This program is dedicated to the Holy Family. We ask for their protection, guidance and intercession for all our Parish families. Joseph and Mary were the first teachers Jesus had. He was trained in the faith within the confines of his home in the small town of Nazareth. Can you imagine the faith sharing they must have had? Theirs was a faith lived out at home and publicly. "His parents used to go every year to Jerusalem for the feast of the Passover and when he was twelve they went up for the celebration as was their custom" (Luke 2:41). It was in the home setting where Jesus' hunger for the knowledge of God was nourished. We hope to follow the example of the Holy Family.
Family Formation is designed to help parents respond to the Church’s call to be “the first and foremost educators of their children.” (Gravissimum Educationis, 3). It is our purpose to aid families as they grow in their love and knowledge of the Catholic Faith. Through this program, parents learn their faith along with their children. Once a month the families come together for classes. The children meet with a catechist and the parents with other adults for instruction on the same topic as the children. The parents then receive a packet of lessons which cover each remaining week of the month. The lessons include basic Catholic themes following the three-year liturgical cycle. They are clear and engaging with hands-on activities, audio CDs, stories, games and seasonal booklets.
