First Communion (1st Eucharist) preparation begins in second grade and is part of the Family Formation (K-6) program. Each sacramental preparation student spends the first months of the school year preparing for 1st Reconciliation (or 1st Confession) and the second half preparing for 1st Eucharist. First Eucharist preparation begins after the student makes their 1st Confession. Students are required to participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation before they begin preparing for 1st Eucharist. Students receive 1st Communion in late spring or early summer.
Each sacramental prep student receives a Blessed: First Communion workbook by Dynamic Catholic (dynamiccatholic.com/blessed), containing engaging and educational lessons they do at home with their parents three weeks out of the month. Once a month, the student attends class to view a video from the Blessed: First Eucharist program and receive instruction from a catechist.
