First Reconciliation (or 1st Confession) preparation begins in second grade and is part of the Family Formation (K-6) program. Each sacramental preparation student spends the first months of the school year preparing for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the second half preparing for First Eucharist. Students are required to participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation before they begin preparing for First Eucharist. Students make their First Confession in the late fall or early winter.
Each student preparing for the Sacrament of Reconciliation receives a Blessed: First Reconciliation workbook by Dynamic Catholic (dynamiccatholic.com/blessed), containing engaging and educational lessons they do at home with their parents three weeks out of the month. Once a month, the student attends class to view a video from the Blessed: First Reconciliation program and receive instruction from a catechist.
